This Technovation Kick-off Event is designed to help the teams generate ideas for how their mobile app project might address community needs.
Experts representing various community organizations and issues will be available for the students during this workshop. The students will be invited to play the role of news reporters who are on assignment. They will brainstorm questions and interview the community experts in topics including health, literacy, aging, diversity, environment, transportation, food, and housing.
Within their teams, they will report back what they heard and create a mind map of ideas for their Technovation mobile app.
Thanks again to all of you for volunteering to participate in our Technovation SE MN Community Event Day. We truly appreciate you taking time out to help our program.
The high level agenda is:
- 15 min: Welcome and brief “Get to know your teammates’ activity
- 10 min: Overview of Themes and Deliverable for the Technovation program
- 15 min: Introduction of the Community Leaders (you) at the event (8 groups are represented). Each leader is asked to give a brief (1-2 minute) overview of themselves & their organization: goals, issues, what they are trying to improve in our community
- 45 min: The Community Leaders (you) will then each go to individual tables, and groups of girls will rotate among the tables and ‘interview’ you to try to get ideas for their apps.
- After the interviews, you are all free to go, or stay, your choice. The girls will be using the information they gathered from the interview to brainstorm ideas for an app they will build.
