Virtual Open House: Downtown Waterfront Southeast: 6 Street Bridge Concept Design
October 1, 2021 – ROCHESTER, MINN. – The City of Rochester is seeking community input on the future 6 Street SE Bridge. City teammates are preparing a bridge concept that includes the type, size, available transportation modes and location of a future bridge crossing the Zumbro River at 6 Street SE. The bridge concept that is realized through this project will show the roadway cross section, aesthetics, and any other information necessary for guiding the future detailed design of the bridge. The preferred design will help guide the City in the process of securing funding to build the bridge.
Participants will also help form a vision for a recreational access point to the Zumbro River that would be made possible by a bridge being constructed in this area.
The public can learn more about the project via Virtual Open Houses scheduled on Thursday, October 7, 2021. Each session will begin with a general project overview presentation and be followed by a Q&A and feedback session with attendees.
October 7, 2021 Session Information
A recording of an October 7 presentation and subsequent discussion will be posted on the project website for those that were unable to attend. Feedback will be collected through October 31 via an online survey available via the project website.
The project website is available here.
As part of the approved 2021 Downtown Waterfront S.E. Small Area Plan, a series of public realm improvements projects have been identified to create a cohesive, connected, and activated redevelopment district. These public realm improvement projects not only provide improved access and connections to the district, they also elevate the overall experience, enhance the natural systems on a degraded site, and provide confidence that the Destination Medical Center (DMC) and the City of Rochester are committed to redeveloping the site and improving adjacent neighborhoods.
